Some homes deserve more than a renovation — they deserve to have their history preserved. Southern Shore Homes recently completed a unique historic home renovation project involving the recreation of custom cabinetry inspired by the home's original 1920 cabinetry.
Working alongside our Southern Shore Custom Cabinets division, every cabinet was carefully designed and built to preserve the original architectural character while incorporating the precision, durability, and functionality expected from modern craftsmanship.
The completed project features traditional inset cabinet doors, divided-light glass display cabinets, custom corner cabinetry, period-inspired proportions, and a timeless sage green painted finish selected to complement the home's historic character.

Honoring the Original Architecture
The original cabinetry in this North Texas home was a defining element of its character — built in an era when cabinetry was constructed entirely by hand, with joinery methods, proportions, and details that mass production has long since abandoned. When the time came to restore the kitchen, the homeowners faced a choice: replace the home's history with something new, or recreate what had always been there.
They chose preservation. Our team studied the original cabinet profiles, the divided-light glass patterns, the way the corner cabinet wrapped the room, and the painted finish that gave the space its warmth. Every element was documented, measured, and re-created in our in-house cabinet shop using both modern precision and the patient hand-finishing that original 1920 cabinetry deserved.
